Feb 26 - Tunnel Hill Railroad Tunnel #2 - this is the second image for the Tunnel Hill RR Tunnel series. This is part of the inside wall of the tunnel. The indention in the wall is for RR workers working in the tunnel to "jump" into if a train was entering the tunnel so that they could get out of the way. There are a few of these throughout the tunnel and I hope all the workers could run fast! There is a story (that I don't think can be validated) of a couple of workers that died because they could not get into one of these fast enough. Water has worked its way through the brick and has run down the wall for many years forming icicles and calcification buildup. Lime has also left its mark although you can't see it as well due to the black and white image.
Thank you for your comments on the first image. I was able to adjust the exposure when processing the image - but it was really dark in there and surreal!
